Critical Role Campaign 4 Introduces the Fighters Group

From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a wide array of personalities, and a gripping narrative featuring divine entities, demons, and malevolent powers expanding in influence within the urban setting.

Warning: Revealing details for Episode 3 of the new season follow below.

The Soldiers Table Unveiled

The third episode concluded with a huge suspense moment and introduced the first table of adventurers who will branch out from the primary party to embark on their independent quest, distinct from the remaining groups.

This warrior group consists of Teor (played by Travis Willingham), Thimble (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).

Dividing the Cast

Given an extensive roster, it was evident from the outset that having everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.

This explains, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, connecting the individual narratives before branching into three separate parties: Fighters, Strategists, and Questers.

What Defines the Combat Party

As described by the DM, the Soldiers table is for players who prefer a typically action-packed fight-heavy narrative style where diplomatic options are scarce.

Initially, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might look mismatched, but the actions of the third episode demonstrate why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the combat party.

Reasons to Leave

First, the team understands precisely where to proceed after a intense opening clash with The Crow Keepers.

A former ally of the deceased character—whose demise started the narrative’s action—used the enemy for his selfish purposes, invading the hidden lair, assaulting the character, and stealing all the powerful objects to auction.

The traitor then paid off his debts and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.

Character Drivers

Additionally, each character has a individual motive to depart Dol-Makjar:

  • The rogue, as the companion and trusted friend, seeks vengeance.
  • The knowledgeable figure is familiar with Timmony and warns that it is a nasty place.
  • Tyranny and The healer, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to execute the target and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
  • But, their position as important members in the powerful family could enable the group reach places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Moreover, The grateful character pledged a life debt to Wicander for his deliverance and will now accompany him everywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

Lastly, all of them are sought by the powers that rule the setting for a multiple motives, making staying in the city no longer safe:

  • The agile adventurer and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The warrior and The cleric turned against the powerful family and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
  • The target is wanted dead by the clan.

This means them few options but to head to Timmony in search of Casimir.
